David Catchings

Intern, Marketing & Communications

David began with the Hampton Roads Alliance in September 2020 as a Marketing & Communications intern. In his internship, he assists the Director of Marketing & Communications with various publications and communications initiatives. His responsibilities include researching and writing content for the Alliance's website and newsletters, helping manage the Alliance's social media accounts, assisting with creative content development for promotional/marketing materials, and supporting special events hosted by the Alliance.

As of May 2021 David graduated from the Strome College of Business at Old Dominion University as a marketing major with a concentration in digital marketing, and a minor in business analytics. At Old Dominion University, he was fellow of the Dean Tanner Fellowship program, which helps cultivate leadership skills starting freshman year through graduation. Through this fellowship, David spear-headed a community outreach program with Ingleside Elementary in Norfolk. The program provided over 100 binders to Ingleside’s math department along with numerous volunteer hours at the school.

David grew up as an Air Force military brat, moving to 6 different states and 3 countries. He has briefly worked with the Alliance over the Summer of 2020 by interning for the 757 Place Making and Marketing Committee for the 757 Recovery and Resilience Action Framework. He is dedicated to progressing the Alliance mission in order for the Hampton Roads region to become a desirable destination for young professionals.
