Earlier this month, the Hampton Roads region proudly took part in SelectUSA’s Investment Summit Spin Off event, held May 6–9, followed by strong regional representation at the SelectUSA Conference May 11–14 in National Harbor, Maryland.

It was an honor to host a small but dynamic international delegation ahead of the main summit, and what we hope will be an annual occurrence.

The Spin Off event offered our eight delegates—representing more than four countries and two U.S. states—a firsthand look at why Virginia continues to be a top destination for global investment.

Throughout the week, they participated in meaningful conversations with our Alliance team, local economic development partners and the Virginia Economic Development Partnership. They enjoyed lodging at the oceanfront and enjoyed participating in The Port of Virginia’s State of the Port events, and touring STIHL USA, Nauticus and the Battleship Wisconsin, and historic Fort Monroe.

At the main SelectUSA Conference, Hampton Roads made a powerful impression. The Hampton Roads Alliance, along with seven regional economic development leaders, highlighted the region’s strategic advantages: one of the world’s most significant maritime, military and port hubs; exceptional access to global markets; a skilled and adaptable workforce; and a thriving defense and shipbuilding ecosystem.

Interest from international investors continues to grow—and we are proud that Hampton Roads is not just on the global stage; it is helping to shape it.
