The Hampton Roads Alliance, alongside the Hampton Roads Workforce Council and the Government of South Australia, brought together a dynamic gathering of Hampton Roads business leaders and defense-related companies from Australia for a reception after visiting Hampton Roads for a couple days. From fostering partnerships to sharing insights, it was a fantastic opportunity to delve into the vibrant defense and maritime industry supporting AUKUS. Poquoson, VA

Poquoson is a suburban city of approximately 16 square miles in the middle of the Hampton Roads region. A former fishing village with over 84 miles of shoreline on the Chesapeake Bay, it draws individuals looking for a small town lifestyle with excellent schools. The City of Poquoson is business-friendly, intent on increasing patronage for its existing merchants and supporting sensible economic growth in its retail trade area.

Poquoson is conveniently accessible to I-64 and the Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport, both typically within 15 minutes travel time. Adding to this connectivity is the City’s Wythe Creek Road Widening Project will ultimately include a new bridge connection with Hampton and increased accessibility for multi-modal transportation.

Poquoson’s business corridor serves a three-mile market area of nearly 40,000 people with a variety of shopping and dining opportunities, all framed in a relaxed, unhurried setting, making it a perfect day trip for visitors.
