Land is Southampton County’s most plentiful and important resource, as agriculture and farming are a dominant industry. Southampton currently holds the title for Virginia’s leading county in both cotton and peanut production. In total, the County boasts over 600 square miles of land assets.

There are two publicly owned business parks within the County; The Southampton Business Park and Southampton Commerce and Logistics Center. The Business Park is located directly off Highway 58 and is zoned M-1 Light Industrial. The park has water, sewer and natural gas on site. The Commerce and Logistics Center, is zoned M-2 Heavy Industrial with water, sewer, and natural gas as well, in addition to rail access.
