Outdoor Recreation

Our 3,000 miles of shoreline offer many outdoor activities including swimming, sailing, hiking, surfing, kayaking and more. The fun doesn’t stop with the beach though… We also have campgrounds, adventure parks, rope courses, dog parks, botanical gardens and more, all of which provide endless opportunities to get outside and get active.

Hampton Roads is also a biker’s paradise with over 100 miles of dedicated street and nature paths, in addition to the 53-mile Virginia Capital Trail that runs along the James River from historic Jamestown and Williamsburg to Richmond.
