Governor of Virginia Glenn Youngkin announced today that Alliance Investor Amazon.com will build two world-class facilities and create more than 1,000 new jobs in the City of Virginia Beach (Virginia Beach City Government)! Alliance President and CEO Douglas L. Smith stated “In the past few years, Amazon has truly embraced the Hampton Roads community, opening facilities in multiple locations and quickly becoming one of the region’s major employers. Today’s announcement marks yet another milestone in Amazon’s investment in and dedication to Hampton Roads. Carmon Schietzelt

Marketing Specialist

Carmon Schietzelt joined the Alliance in November 2020 as the organization's first Marketing Specialist for Offshore Wind. In this new role, Carmon will coordinate strategic outreach to offshore wind companies, promoting the development of a supply chain for the burgeoning offshore wind initiative. This initiative will position Hampton Roads as the premier destination on the East Coast for offshore wind companies to invest, while also creating new economic prospects for existing businesses, attracting new investments to the region, and sparking new permanent job creation.

Before joining the Alliance, Carmon spent seven years in a variety of marketing positions for non-profits, small businesses, and large corporations. In previous roles, she has mapped and executed marketing strategies, polished visions and brands, and cultivated business relationships through focused content creation.

Hailing from North Carolina, Carmon is a recent Hampton Roads transplant. She holds bachelor's degrees in Classical Studies and Archaeology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Before moving, Carmon was an active volunteer in her community and is looking forward to finding similar opportunities in Hampton Roads. She lives in Virginia Beach with her husband and two sons.
